Horizontal scroll wheels on mice, for example the Logitech MX series, do not work in SAS Enterprise Guide (8.3 but haven't tested on earlier versions) for either scrolling through wide tables or long lines in code files. This feature is working in Display Manager, and works in similar programs with table interfaces e.g. Excel or Access.

Presumably this feature has just been overlooked, would be great if it could be included!

Hi Michael,

Try using Shift + Mouse Wheel to see if that works.

I know we have Enterprise Guide 8.1-8.3 users (and prior versions) that can successfully use the horizontal scroll wheel, so, the functionality is there, but, it might be an issue specific to your device or device settings or Windows OS.

I cannot explain why the same device on the same Windows machine works in the editor of SAS Display Manager but not in the Enhanced Editor in Enterprise Guide.

If Shift + Mouse Wheel does not solve then you might try un-installing Logitech Setpoint if your mouse has five or less buttons....this has solved a case in which an error was being generated for some users when using their horizontal scroll wheel.

Hopefully others in Communities with your exact device and version of Enterprise Guide and Win OS will have suggestions.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for the help, Shift + Mouse Wheel does work, I just wanted to be able to use the horizontal wheel. Addtionally the horizontal wheel can't be remapped to Shift + Mouse Wheel, so that can't solve it.

Thanks for the info on other users, I'll have to have more of a look at my settings! I don't use Logitech Setpoint, but rather Logitech Options, but I can confirm that uninstalling doesn't fix the issue. (SetPoint doesn't support the MX Master 3, and installing it didn't fix the issue either)

If other Users have had similar problems I'm using the Logitech MX Master 3 with Logitech Options 0.19.001.00015, on SAS Enterprise Guide 8.3.0.103 (32-bit) and Windows 10.0.19042.

Cheers,

Michael

I have an MX Master 2S and SAS Enterprise guide 8.2(64- Bit).

I can not use the thumb scroll

Although Shift + Main scrolling does the work of moving right and left it would be really nice to have the thumb scrolling to look at the output with long list of columns.

@BillSawyer  Please let us know if you had changed any settings for the thumb scroll to work.
