A filter won't remove columns from the object. It only filters the rows.

For the Group, you can easily create a filter on a category. Will the filter be static or will it be prompted so that users can select the group that they want?

For the GST, this appears to be a measure. In this case, a filter will normally be something like an EQUAL TO or a LESS THAN or GREATER THAN, etc. How were you thinking to filter for GST?
