I need to add description to column name or label. I can use tooltip, which it will show a description of the column when an user hover the mouse pointer over the column label or the label of the dimensions and measures. OR if there is a way to add question mark next to the column and let user click on it and display a popup window.

Is there a way to do the above from the report studio of information map?

Thanks,
Bob.

Hello Bob,
What version of WRS are you using. Sorry for being so slow on responding...most people are out this week.

I don’t think there really is a way to do this right now.
Adding HTML code to the data item name gets translated back to non-special characters. Perhaps the best option would be to switch to Stored Processes to generate the report

Thank you very much Jen.

we are using Web Report Studio 4.2 and SAS 9.2.

Would you please point me to the documentation on using store process to create reports? I am new to SAS BI tool.

Bob,
On your Stored Process question I would suggest starting with the class "Creating Distributing and Using Stored Processes"

https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?id=306&ctry=US.

Note that the Course Book is available for this as well (if you are unable to attend the class or wait for the next one scheduled).

Another option to surface descriptions could be the Data Source Details option. This is not something the user could hover on. However, the user can right click on the object (table, graph, etc.) and select "Data Source Details". This will present the name of the information map, the map description, the data items, the physical name of the data item, and the data item description.

Thanks. Will give it a try.
