is there a maximum caslib size allowed? 
or is it dependent on the memory allocation of the worker nodes?

It depends on how much memory is available on your worker nodes. Also, the maximum amount of memory can be lowered if you have specified CAS.MEMORYSIZE. Also, do not forget about the replication factor, you can set that to zero if you are using a custom code to load the data.
