Error publishing SAS Viya large decisions 'Proxy Error'

We are trying to publish a decision that has many complicated sub decision and many version. In our last release we ran into an error that was cryptic saying 'proxy error' without much more in the logs. We deleted some of the older versions of some of the objects and we were able to publish again. However, this version we are getting the same issue and we trimmed more versions and are still seeing it. Does anyone have experience with this or know how we can dig into the root cause?

Is this SAS Viya version 3.5? You have to increase Timeout value in /opt/sas/viya/config/etc/httpd/conf.d/Petrichor.conf.
