I am currently working with SAS Visual Analytics and Hadoop, and I would like to display the output of an SQL query from Hadoop directly in a report in SAS Viya, without creating a table or view in SAS.
Is it possible to execute SQL queries on Hadoop data live and display the results immediately in a SAS Visual Analytics report, without storing the data in an intermediate table or view?
If so, how can I achieve this using Live Data Connections or any other functionality in SAS Viya? Any guidance or resources on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I think the easiest option for you to display Hadoop data into SAS Visual Analytics, will be to use a Viya Job. This will allow you to execute SAS code to access Hadoop and display the results in SAS Visual Analytics using traditional SAS code. If you want to use visualizations from SAS Visual Analytics, the only option will be to load the data into CAS. If you don't want the data to be persistent, you can store the data into the CASUSER library for each user. This way you can populate the data based on a specific request/job accessing Hadoop data and each user will be able to parameterize the request.
If you prefer to access Hadoop directly, you can also embed a web application in SAS Visual Analytics using the Data-Driven Content object. This will provide the needed functionality to filter the Hadoop data based on selections done in other visualizations inside SAS Visual Analytics.
Please let me know if you have questions.
