Comparative period alert to user

Hi Team,

I have employee count , i have to compare  the employee count loaded previous day with the employee count loaded today.(Note:At any point of time i keep only current data in the report) And if the difference is more than x%, then i have to send an email alert to user.

Do you keep a data set of the previous days data?

Summarize yesterday and today's data, combine the two, and calculate the percent difference.
