Hi,

On Azure I can see this option in the marketplace "SAS® Viya® (Self Managed-Virtual Machine)", for which I would like some clarifications in terms of billing.

In the Azure Marketplace it's stated that the VM as a total cost starting from of $1/h + costs of infrastructure. My questions are the following:

  • Can we deploy this VM and it will work out of the box, or do we need to go through SAS first to have a contract in place and the $1/h is just indicative?
  • After deploying the VM, is the billing done by hour (in which the VM is up and running), or will any costs be charged even when the VM is stopped (dealocated)?
    • I know some costs will be charged (e.g.: disks and public IPs), but I'm more interested in knowing what will be charged regarding software costs.
    • Example: if we run this SAS Viya VM for 200h in a month, will we be charged for 200h (so, $200) or will we be charged for 720h (so, $720)?
  • Can I deploy this VM for testing (and then delete it after we end) or does the deployment as a minimum duration that will be charged even if we have it up for less time?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Sounds like you missed the Plans + Pricing tab?:

At least some of your questions could be answered by analysing this tab.

Hi LinusH,

thanks for your insightful answer and for the screenshot, however, it doesn't answer any of my questions.

Either way, I would like to have a answers/confirmation from someone from SAS.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Jorge
