Visual Analytics - Aggregating an Aggregated Variable

has anyone ever been trying to create a new variable (say to sum a flag variable) and the flag variable itself is an aggregated varaible? ... VA gives you the error that one cannot aggregate an aggregated variable..... I don't know why one cannot? and I cannot seem to find a work around either.... Has anyone ever been in this situation? anyone have some advice? Thanks - Ben
