Hi,

In the report designer is it possible to implement an "order by" clause across several columns? So for example:

Order by site, subject, visit, page

Or does this "order by" have to be implemented in a data prep query? Also, will this "order by" clause be correctly output when used in report designer ?

I want to fix the order in the report design and not have the user change it if possible. (Using v7.3.)

Thanks.

Mike

In VA 7.4 the List Table object has an Enable Sorting check box. If you sort your columns in the order you want using Cntrl mouse click on the column headers to select more than one column at a time I think you will be able to get the sort order you want - you then save the report. By leaving the Enable Sorting check box un-ticked then you can't change the sort order in the Report Viewer.

If you want that sort order across all VA reports, then it is better to do it in the preparation stage.

What report objects do you want to fix sort order in? Please note summary-style reports will usually sort in alphanumeric order by default.

Currently table objects.

So just to clarify you cant perform a hard coded multi column "order by" directly in the report designer?
