Hello Community Members,

I have some questions regarding the Visual Analytics Report URL and would appreciate your insights:

After sharing the URL of a report with an end user, making modifications to the report—such as adding new analyses or updating existing objects—can cause the URL to change. Is there a solution to ensure that the same URL remains functional even after these updates?

Please let me know if there is a way to address this issue. Thank you!

Hey @Shreya_Rajavat! Which version are you on? Can you describe the way you are saving the report? In Viya, the URL should stay the same if you overwrite the report with any new changes. The only situation where I have run into this is if you move the old report to a backup location and then save-as in the original location, the URL will not point to the new report. For example:

  • /Folder/Report1 --> /Folder/Backup/Report1_Backup
  • Save as: /Folder/Report1

Thank you for your quick response!

I am currently using Viya 4. Let me explain how I save reports:

First, I create a folder structure for each individual report. After preparing the report, I save it within the respective folder. When there are requirements to make changes to an existing report, I update the report directly and save the changes in the same location. This is the process I follow.

Thank you! That shouldn't change the URL. If URLs are changing after making updates to reports, then you might want to reach out to Tech Support for further diagnosis. The way I usually share reports with people directly is by going to the top-right hand menu and selecting "Copy Link" to get a persistent URL like this:

https://my-viya-server.com/links/resources/report?uri=%2Freports%2Freports%2F7a18e812-aa3b-43d5-bf31...
