Hi everyone,

I've granted read access to all users for a report's data source in SAS VA (SAS Viya 4), but they are still unable to view the report. They receive the following error:

"An error occurred while loading the data: tf_products."

Can anyone share the steps to properly grant permissions so all users can access the report with its data source?

To properly grant permissions for a data source in SAS VA (SAS Viya 4) and ensure all users can view the report, follow these steps:

Steps to Grant Data Source Permissions in SAS Viya 4

  1. Verify Table-Level Permissions

    • Go to SAS Environment Manager.
    • Navigate to Data > Libraries > Your Data Source.
    • Check the authorization settings and ensure that the required users or groups have Read access.
  2. Set Report and Data Access in SAS VA

    • Open SAS Visual Analytics.
    • Locate the report and check its permissions.
    • Ensure that users or groups have the Read and Execute permissions.
  3. Grant Access to the CAS Library

    • If your data is stored in CAS (Cloud Analytic Services), ensure that the CAS library and tables have been shared properly.
    • Go to CAS Management in SAS Environment Manager.
    • Add user roles and set Read, Promote, and Load permissions.
  4. Check Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

    • Verify if users are assigned to the right groups and roles in SAS.
    • Adjust custom roles and policies if needed.
  5. Validate the Changes

    • After updating permissions, ask users to refresh the report.
    • If the issue persists, clear the CAS cache and reload the data.

By following these steps, users should be able to access the report without encountering the "An error occurred while loading the data: tf_products." issue.

@sikandarkazmi May I suggest that if you copy/paste responses from Copilot (or any other AI) that you a) clearly state this when posting and b) that you're also clear if you had the necessary expertise to validate the AI response.

In a video I've watched lately someone said LLM are story tellers and not truth tellers.

Sometimes the AI responses sound very convincing but actually contain hallucinations. It really helps to know if AI answers have been validated or not.
