I setup a guest account and it will allow access.  I show folders that I was able to add and remove from the list.  But I have a report I would like to display to the guest account but I get the following error pop-up that says:

Guest users are not allowed to access this application. Select an option.

It allows me to go back, change user or sign out (3 buttons).  I would imagine it is a permissions issue but I tried a few things but nothing would work.

Anyone know what I could be missing?

webanon user (Guest) has SAS VA basic and that is about it.  The folder has read meta and read permissions.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Madelyn from SAS Support was super awesome!  She determined that the the webanon "My Folder" was some how set to explicitly deny for all access.  Once she set it correctly all of our reports showed up.

I believe while the guest access was disabled someone when installing the system or someone from our company wanted added security and set everything to deny.

I am so grateful to Madelyn for all of her help.  A true expert.

Thanks again,

Bryan

Is it possible that you enabled guest access for SAS Visual Analytics Hub but not the Viewer? There are three components:

  • Visual AnalyticsHub
  • Visual Analytics Viewer
  • Visual Analytics Transport Services

I think you may be correct. I will try it first thing in the morning and get back to you. I am pretty sure I only enabled the hub guest. I'll have to double check. Thanks so much!

Sorry 1 more sub question.  I cant seem to find the same guest property for the Visual Analytics Transport Service.  I did get the viewer changed so I would imagine that was the issue.  I don't see it listed like the other 2.  Any advice where I can find the property on the Management Console?

I found the other 2 under Application Management > SAS Application Infrastructure section.  I even did a search and it showed the Transport Service but it did not have the Advanced Tab like the others did.  And it showed that it was in the Environment Management section but also it did not have the guest true/false options.

Thanks for the help again its really appreciated!

Transport Services is here:

Configuration Manager > SAS Application Infrastructure > Visual Analytics > Visual Analytics Services > Visual Analytics Transport Service

I believe you will have to click Add and add the App.AllowGuest property, setting it to true.

You are beyond awesome!  I cant believe I missed it.  I mean I have only been working with it for 3 weeks now.  Smiley Tongue

I got some of it to show up and now I am dealing with a new error when looking at tables.  It says, "The requested data source was not found on the server. (table_name)."  Unfortunately, I am the server side manager and not really the application front end user/admin.  I think we need to somehow register the tables or maybe add a new LASR server.  They wanted to only expose a new folder for guest users and not the other internal and public stuff.

I just did the SAS training but I need to go over my notes and see if that will help or not.  Cool system when it works, but its somewhat of a beast to navigate lol.

Thanks again,

@BryanS - Please be aware that any SAS tables loaded into a LASR library also must be registered in metadata otherwise you can't use the data sources in VA reports.

So I can view the reports but not the tables under the guest account.  With my account I can see the report and the tables.

So they would have to be loaded and registered for my account to see them right?

I tried everything from RM/read access to everything I could make the selection for under the guest account.  I really have no idea why I cannot display any tables within the reports for the guest account.

Thanks again for all of your help,

Bryan

Look in your SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/Logs/SASServer12_1/SASLASRAuthorization7.x.log

This log should say what metadata permission(s) is missing for the guest account.

I checked the log I see my account and some other users.  However, the webanon account is not on the list.  I even set webanon permissions to Read/RM and it still does not want to budge. I am at such a loss.

Thanks again for the help this log is a good one to keep handy regardless.
