Define geography data item starting from a derived item

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to create a geo map in my report but the variable containing the state names is wrong (states are written in different languages), so I have to modify it by creating a derived item.

The problem is that, when I right-click the new category, the option "Geography" is not available, while in the "original" variable it is!

Is there a way to do this?
