I was really hoping to be able to apply a timezone to the data but have used the +/- to get the time reasonably aligned. Problem with the approach if that the data does not adjust for daylight saving, etc. so to acurately report on the time of for exmple usage would have to manually change data for daylught saving/not.

Hi @johnivoklaic,

You may find this blog post useful as part of your data prep work http://blogs.sas.com/content/sasdummy/2010/11/24/calculating-the-utc-offset-in-your-sas-session/

Hi Michelle,

Thank you and excellent reference!

Do you know of specific examples on SAS VA Data Prep and Report Designer using the functions provided?

Best Regards

John

Hi @johnivoklaic,

I am not aware of any specific examples within SAS Visual Analytics to do this as these functions are not available within SAS Visual Analytics. I was thinking to do the data prep within SAS Enterprise Guide/SAS Studio or SAS DI Studio prior to loading into SAS Visual Analytics.

Kind Regards,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Toatally agree and I encorage the approach where the preperation is performed off platform and loaded as near to ready as practical.

Given that this is SAS VA audit and user information the logical solution is to keep it on the SAS VA platform.

Thank you for your help!

Best Regards
John

Hi John,

Oh I didn't know the data you were referring to was related to the SAS VA audit and user tables. There may be a setting in the configuration of the VA auditing or perhaps reporting where you can specify the locale or time offset or time format.

Kind Regards,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

That is really interesting, is there an option to set the SAS VA time to a particular timeszone, and does it have to be done at install or can it be updated on an installed instance?

Best Regard

John

Hi John,

From the SAS Visual Analytics Administrators guide the field, timestamp_dttm in the Audit table has a description of "Date and Time GMT" which seems to suggest that the datetime is stored in GMT.

I'm not sure whether there is an installation configuration or environment setting. Even if there was would it change the datetime timezone in the audit table seeing the documentation specifies GMT? Mmmmm this question might be more suited to SAS Technical Support.

Kind Regards,

Michelle
