Dear Experts,

We are currently using SAS Visual Analytics Version: Long-Term Support 2024.09.

We’ve noticed an issue with the Date Slider: although the data is available up to the current day, the End Date on the slider does not automatically reflect the latest date and it consistently shows one day earlier. However, when we duplicate the slider and place it on a new page, it correctly picks up the most recent date.

Could you please let us know if you’ve encountered a similar issue recently?

Good day Sudheer,

Have you tried deleting the date slider and recreating it? Does it then reset to the original values you expect?

Could you also share a screenshot of the slider settings?

Thank you.

Where is the "latest date" information supposed to be updated from? One day earlier than when?

In general if a widget, such as your slider, needs to reflect a change then the maker is responsible for insuring the widget knows where to find the data AND usually tell the widget when to go look for that data. That would be an instruction somewhere that tells the widget "before displaying get the value and use that to display" when initializing the widget screen.

I am going to guess that @lapent thinks that you may have manually entered or selected a specific date reference. Which would then be a static value and have the behavior you describe.

The behavior may correspond to what's documented.

" New Options for Control Objects
Control objects have a new Initial value option, and range slider objects have Initial min value and Initial max value options. These options enable you to specify the default initial selection for the control when a user opens the report for the first time, or when they select Restore default report state. "

See also here: SAS Help Center: Working with Controls (https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/vacdc/v_028/vaobj/n11d8xohg1cc49n1d3ovjmgvdeu3.htm#n06vhkfko...) > select "Slider Control" link to go to that section in the documentation.

By design those initial values are used when a user opens the report the first time but then a user may decide to change them manually and those values will persist after the report closure.
To have those values reset to default a user can select Restore default report state from the menu
There is the possibility to disable the saved viewer state feature: SAS Support - Disabling the ability to save the state of a SAS® Visual Analytics report displayed in View mode (https://sas.service-now.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0041659)
