Two working days in a row I ran into a scenario where all of the columns in one of my Visual Analytics data queries was deleted.  The laser table was not deleted because in both cases I was modifying the input table for the data query and did not run the data query.  The last time that it occurred I was adding a column.

The steps I took were:

I updated the Oracle table using Enterprise Guide

I updated the metadata in Management Console

I updated the metadata library that pulls from the library updated.  I did this using Enterprise Guide, update library metadata, update and add table definitions in metadata with the actual tables and columns.

In Visual Analytics Prepare Data the inputs screen is blank.

The data query I am working with is on dev VCU/Enterprise Analytics and Advanced Research/Data Queries/Retention data query.

It is possible that this occurred because I accidently forgot to include a grant to the oracle group that uses the table before refreshing the metadata?  Do you know of a way to keep from having to re-create the data query?
