I've got a table of salaries and I'm looking to visualise difference between average of male vs female

Table structure is

id -Gender - Salary

1 -Male - 200,000

2 -Female - 200,001

3 -Male - 500,000

4 - Female - 500,001

I don't want to pre-aggregate in data prep (it kills ability to allow users to drill down unless I create n x n which gives HUGE LASR table)

I know VA can't do aggregations of aggregations but was hoping this was possible, I've failed so far.

Any ideas? (This should be simple - I think)

Hi,

Yes I had tried that but ran into some issues, just had another look though and its helped me pinpoint the issue (thank you)

VA calculated the average by dividing by the total population (so my measure which just summed one sex was going haywire), I had to manually create a denominator and use that to create my average.

Have you tried setting the aggregation property of your salary measure to 'Average' and then creating new calculated items?
