What access rights do I need on the source and target table to run a SAS visual Analytics data preparation query that loads data from a SAS dataset to a LASR table.  E.g. Readmetadata, writemedata.

Permissions in SAS VA are set up based on the metadata roles defined for a particular user. The standard roles available in VA are a good place to start. So if you are doing data preparation then I would give your user account these roles:

Visual Analytics: Data Building

Visual Data Builder Administrators

With these roles you should be able import, prepare and load LASR tables as they contain the right metadata settings for what you want to do.
