You may have seen my SAS Visual Analytics (VA) version of Santa’s Dasherboard from my article posted last Christmas (2017), and I thought I would make some small changes for Christmas this year. This year's is similar to the DasherBoard Falko Schulz and I presented at SGF in Denver this year (Paper: 2069-2018).

Holiday Challenge: I have made many changes to the DasherBoard from last year to this year (below). Some are easy to spot, and others are not so easy. If you want to win a prize, please comment below and see how many you can see. Good luck - prize drawn in Jan 2019 (probably a signed copy of my book)!

Love the changes to the Dasherboard... most noticeable to me are the changes in the colour theme (red banner, buttons and white font) and the addition of the naughty & nice list... a festive way to dress up pie charts!

Cheers,

Michelle

Nice DasherBoard!

I am noticing the

  • color changes (gray to red banner, black/navy to white font on red banner)
  • Reindeer pic to Santa Hat pic on red banner
  • Change of Naughty/Nice list from a bar graph to the ornament Pie Chart
  • resizing of Naughty/Nice graph (now pie chart) and is not on top of the map of the Optimized Route - instead there is a white and evergreen background of the pie chart
  • Naughty & Nice map is resized and pushed to the right

I'm noticing the following:

White font compared to grey font

Santa’s hat replaced the cow head

Red background replaces grey background

‘Computers’ and ‘Game Consoles’ are side by side now as opposed to previous version

‘Dolls’ and ‘Candy’ have different positions as well

New section ‘Naughty and Nice List’ involving pie charts

No bar charts on the map image

No translucent globes on the map

And I've been nice enough not to look at what others have written before me 🙂

Thanks for the ideas and feedback all. I will send a note to the winners, and of course a copy of my book. Thanks for supporting the post and keep on sharing your own creations in the VA Gallery.

Santa’s Dashboard – The DasherBoard 2019 – Santa needs data too! Here is this year’s dasherboard with a new cotton candy theme – built with SAS Visual Analytics and Christmas cheer. Wishing you all a fantastic holidays and a safe and happy new year. It would be great to connect at SGF in 2020 so please mark your calendar for my session and let's talk all things VA and Dataviz.
