I downloaded the SAS University Edition and am using the virtual machine, but it keeps crashing when I try to input a slightly larger amount of data. The error message says: An unknown error occurred. I ran the same code in SAS on a local machine and it worked fine. Is there any way to fix this?

4GB of RAM is really low these days, but I think that's your entire computer allotment so you definitely don't want that. Try 1 or 2 GB.

11000 records should not be problematic at all, what type of issues/crashing are you experiencing? Sometimes I find SAS UE crashes when the codes incorrect instead of printing errors...an annoyance for sure.

What's a "slightly larger amount of data"?

SAS UE does have limitations, you can increase the RAM accessible which may help, this would be in the VM settings. Shut down the VM, go to Oracle VirtualBox and change the settings to increase the default RAM. SAS UE is not designed to work with large data, but that's relative. I've worked with files up to 5 million rows for data management but for Stat Procs it's failed with hundred of thousand records so YMMV.

Thank you for the advice!! I just tried increasing the base memory in the settings, but I'm not sure how much to increase it by. My file has about 11000 lines only so it is not huge, but the max RAM I can set it to is about 4800 MB.
