I have a brand new Windows10 64 bit installation and I have just downloaded by SAS products.
I get the prompt when launching Studio 3.6 "Select JRE location".
However when I browse to C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASPrivateJavaRunTime\9.4\jre\bin and click "OK" it just takes me back to the original "Select JRE Location" window in an endless loop and never accepts the folder.
I believe this is a known bug in SAS 9.4 and Windows 10. I don't think there's a workaround yet AFAIK. If you search on here you should see similar question/responses.
Not sure why it occurred, did you copy and paste from somewhere? Or are you using Edge?
I did fix it though 🙂
I had a similar problem.
I solved it using the following location: C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASPrivateJavaRunTime\9.4\jre
Hi @dcowles85
If @xxformat_com post does not solve the issue for you, please check the JREHOME= option value within C:\Program Files\SASHome\sassw.config.
Is the value (path) correct?
You may have to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86 and x64).
You'll find links from the Downloads tab of http://support.sas.com/kb/60/761.html
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Damo
Installing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable helped. Thanks for that link.
I have the SAS analytical suite installed, the default installation place for the sassw.config = C:\SAS\SAS94\sassw.config
Default SAS private runtime is defaulted to:
JREHOME=C:\SAS\SAS94\SASPrivateJavaRuntimeEnvironment\9.4\jre\bin\java.exe
SASHOME=C:\SAS\SAS94
PRIVATEJREHOME=C:\SAS\SAS94\SASPrivateJavaRuntimeEnvironment\9.4\jre\bin\java.exe
In combination with the new Visual C++ redistributable it works fine (use chrome not edge)
Thank you mr. dcowles85, you solution was very helpful to me. You have a nice day
