We are having SAS Viya 3.5 server running on Windows Server.
I was wondering if there is a way one can disable the SAS Studio 5.2 timeout.

I don't see an option in the environment manager for disabling the time out.
Just to be precise my question is not about increasing the time out interval It is about disabling so that there is no time out.
Request for guidance from the community.
Are there any downside of disabling the time out?

I think you need 2. = PWA !

  1. SAS® Viya® 3.5 Administration -- Configuration Properties
Set Time-out Interval for SAS Viya Web Applications
    https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/calcdc/3.5/calconfig/n03000sasconfiguration0admin.htm#n03020...
  2. SAS Studio as a Progressive Web App
The PWA has no time-out and stays eternally active (until sign-out).
    https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/webeditorcdc/v_023/webeditorug/n0ihf8v6wtta4fn15ahykddbux2i....
Application persistence – When you access SAS Studio as a PWA from the Windows Start menu, your session will never time out. When you access SAS Studio through a web browser, your session will time out after a period of inactivity and you will be logged out. For more information, see Set a Time-Out for PWA.
Just to be complete : PWA (Progressive Web App) is not only for SAS Studio, but also for Visual Analytics and Model Studio.
  3. General Configuration Properties
    https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/webeditorcdc/v_023/webeditorag/n0kxc7fd8os3nbn14nrddoli75x2....
    sas.studio.abandonedSessionTimeout
    sas.studio.pwaSessionTimeout

Hello @sbxkoenk
Thank you for the wonderful response.
I followed the instructions for installing the PWA on my Desktop. But the timeout still applied.
(The abandonedSessionTimeout property). At our end there is SAS Studio 3.5 on Windows.
In the environment manager the definition sas.studio.pwaSessionTimeout does not exist.

I don't see it in the documentation either SAS Help Center: Configuration Properties: Reference (Applications)
Wondering if the feature of  Progressive Web Apps for SAS Studio V are relevant to the later versions of the SAS Viya  on the cloud ?

Hello @thesasuser ,

I tried it myself now on both Viya 3.5 and Viya 4 and I cannot get it to work either. ☹️🤔

I am a statistician (an end-user of SAS) and not a SAS Administrator nor a SAS Installation Engineer.

I will ask a colleague who works "on the back end" of SAS.

I hope I can give you an answer before the weekend !
