Hello!

What is the purpose of 'Formula Suppression' column in Hiererchies Pane (SAS RFW 3.2)? According to my experiments it is filled with check mark if formula is provided for the hierarchy node. Is it true? In this case word 'suppression' is a bit confusive.

Hi Dmitry,

The "Formula Suppression" column is associated with the formula_cd column in the hierarchy definition file. The formula_cd column indicates whether the formula on a line item (if specified) is applied to historical data in addition to projection data. Valid values include:

  • 0 (or empty): the formula is applied to both historical data and projection data.
  • 1: the formula is applied only to projection data (i.e. it is suppressed for historical data).

Line items with formula_cd = 1 display the check mark in the "Formula Suppression" column.

Incidentally, we have noticed some incorrect behavior in the UI related to this area. If you edit an existing hierarchy and reload the definition file, the UI will show check marks in the "Formula Suppression" column for every line item in the hierarchy that has a formula, regardless of the formula_cd value for the line item. To correct the view, just click over to another section of the Configuration page (e.g. Dimensions, Worksheet Templates, etc), and then click back to Hierarchies.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Richard
