Here's a hint: create a small text file with an editor like Notepad. Name it "test.cvs". See what happens when you try to open it with Excel.

 

Operating system and program dependencies. Windows assigns program associations based on file name extensions. The program Excel by default is associated with files whose extension is CSV, not CVS.

 

Yes you can change the association to add CVS but the default behaviors aren't going to open it.
