using calculated function in PROC SQL for join statements

Hi all-
I know you can use the calculated statement in where statements, but what about joins?

Unfortunately someone added a zero in a column that I strip out but when I attempt a join as
A Left join B on CALCULATED ENC=b.ENCTR
where ENC is the new column and b.ENCTR is an original column, it throws back an error...

Any help, mightly appreciated...

Ignore..I managed to embed the who case statement in the join..
