My doubt is the following:

 In the pdf you can see a exercise.

In the line that say 

 input style $ @; 

 this line want say that style is character and he @ that say that he read the same line not?

relating to line: 

input style $ @;

means: read first variable in row and stay in same row until you get:

input <optional more variables> ;

the semi-colon ( ; ) tels SAS to skip to next row on next READ statement;
