Hi

I'm trying to return the first record but I'm having an error

PROC SQL;
SELECT region,
(COUNT(number_id))
FROM COVID_DATA_JOIN
WHERE rownum = 1
GROUP BY region
;QUIT;

When you have ERRORs or WARNINGs where the remedy is not obvious to you, always (as in ALWAYS) post the complete log of the step by copy/pasting it into a code box opened with the </> button.

This syntax is invalid in SAS unless you have a column names ROWNUM.

Look for questions about     TOP N    for examples of what you are trying to achieve.
