Hello

Why a summary row is not created here?

Data tbl;
input ID  y;
cards;
1 10
2 20
3 30
4 40
5 50
;
run;

proc report data=tbl nowd;
  column ID y ;
  define ID / display;
  define y / display;
  rbreak after / summarize;
run;

Because you define all the variables as display variables. PROC REPORT creates a summary row for analysis variables only. If you define y as an analysis variable like below, a summary row is created

proc report data=tbl nowd;
  column ID y ;
  define ID / display;
  define y / analysis;
  rbreak after / summarize;
run;
