sasgsub in unix shell script

How can I make 2nd command not executed in a shell script untill the first sasgsub job/commad completely finishes without using sleep, I cant use sleep since I cant predict the run time

Perhaps if you provide an example of the shell script someone that knows more about UNIX scripting than I do can provide some hints.
