Hello,

I have a column of data with english names and their french equivalent.

eg: type=Name::nom

I want to extract everything before the special characters of 2 colons i.e everything to the left of ::

how do I go about this.

Thanks,

M

SCAN function.

name_en = scan(type, 1, ":");
name_fr = scan(type, 2, ":");
