error in converting numeric variables to date

i've been trying to convert numeric variable to date.

i used the following method.

Data TEST;
DATENUM = 20070202;
DATE = Input( Put( DATENUM, 8.), yymmdd8.);
Run;

i want datenum to be turned out '20070202'.

however, it turned out '17199'.

would you tell me what was the problem?

Apply format to the numeric date value that you created

Data TEST;
DATENUM = 20070202;
DATE = Input( Put( DATENUM, 8.), yymmdd8.);
format date yymmdd10.;
Run;
