debug option

I am trying to learn debug option.

data tbl/debug;
set sashelp.class;
run;

I receive an error "ERROR: Unable to initialize the DATA STEP Debugger environment."

What does it mean please?

Debug option only works in locally installed SAS (and possibly EGuide in certain circumstances).  You haven't mentioned what software you are using, but I suspect its not local SAS.
