Dear experts,
I have a variable called as follows:
%let date=200907;
And a table containing the following variables:
AA_200901, AA_200902, AA_200903, AA_200904, B, C, D
In the proc sql; I would like to select:
B, C, D and AA_+&date.
Any idea on how to do it? I would like to keep it as simple as possible.
Thanks a lot in advance. SH
I guess I don't understand the issue, because it seems like your %let gives you what you want:
This:
%let date=200907;
proc sql;
CREATE TABLE want AS
SELECT b, c, d, aa_&date
FROM have;
quit;
Will give you this:
proc sql;
CREATE TABLE want AS
SELECT b, c, d, aa_200907
FROM have;
quit;
Is that not what you want?

Hope the below helps.
%let date=200907 ;
data have ;
input AA_200901 $ AA_200902 $ AA_200907 $ ;

run ;
proc sql ;
select AA_&date. as test1
from have ;
