I'm assuming this is in the variable name?That's the default and expected behaviour if VALIDVARNAME=V7. You can override this, I don't recommend it.

You likely want the variable labels to show instead though and there are various ways to accomplish this if you post more details about what you're trying to do.

@Reeza - Thank you for your reply: This was working for months until recently and the problem arose because the data is being used by SAS VA to display the data in a table and the column names are now different. Having underscores where there was a should be spaces or blanks. I am trying to figure out if VALIDVARNAME was introduced by maintenance or by a default profile change.

Ah..that's a different issue. Mostly likely an upgrade happened somewhere. Are any data sources Excel?
