Hello,

As per my knowledge best 12. in SAS means display numbers using the minimum number of characters needed to show the value accurately, up to 12 characters. For format pd 8., it specifies PD should be displayed using 8 characters, including decimal places.

Actually attaching the format specification 8. to a variable means it is will be printed as an INTGER value without any decimal point.  If the number has a fractional part it will be rounded to an integer when printed.
