For the longest time, windows did work in searching within .sas files for keywords but after some updates - this randomly stopped working and no matter what I've tried, it still won't.

1. I already had the persistenthandler value updated in this thread.

I can't think of anything else, but if anyone has any other suggestions or has run into this problem recently.

In my experience, Windows search has always been broken, and the advent of AQS with W7 made this worse.

Just write a small SAS program to scan your paths and be done with it.

Hi @appleorange,

I frequently use FINDSTR from the command line (cmd.exe) to search keywords and phrases in .sas files. If that didn't work I would probably turn to the "Find/replace in files" feature of my text editor, but I wouldn't even think of using the Windows file search.
