When I tried to open a SAS set in JMP by selecting the dataset in the Explorer window and selecting "View in JMP from the pop-up menu. My computer gave the error message below:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

My JMP is installed and up-to-date. Could anyone help me with it? Thanks!

I think you need to open JMP first, then in the JMP menus select File->Open and select the SAS data set.
