Need to extract the characters before the first occurrence of ' ' or '-'

For example:

'ROM A STAR' output: 'ROM'

'ROMA STAR-RAN' output:'ROMA'

'VNAM-RAN STR' output: 'VNAM'

'K-NIT RAN-STA' output: 'K'

Thanks in advance!
