Hello,

I'm looking to strip the last character of a string only if it is ")".  Have:

Data_values

%

%)

mg/l

mg/l)

 

Want:

Data_values

%

%

mg/l

mg/l

    set have;
    if reverse(trim(data_values))=:')' then data_values=substr(data_values,1,length(data_values)-1); 
run;

 

 

 

The REVERSE() function looks at the last character, if it is a ')' then we delete it using the SUBSTR() function.

 

The REVERSE() function is very much underappreciated and I think SAS should sponsor a "Reverse Function Day"!
