Simply the PROC SQL codes?

I'm curious if I could use one PROC SQL step to achieve the two steps result below.  Thanks.

 set underly1621_nodup; 
if year=1617; run;
proc sql noprint; select quote(trim(caseid)) into : UC_1617_list separated by ','  from underly1617; quit;

You sure can. You would also need to add a WHERE clause after your FROM clause to subset only 1617 records.

Not sure what your data look like though and the number of records. Usually helps to post sample code.
