Select Where Date>? in JSL

I have a table with a column of dates.  The dates are formatted as "yyyy-mm-dd".  I am trying  in JSL to select (and eventually exclude) dates which are greater than some specified value.  But when I try to do this with a script like:

dt << Select Where( date > 2020-01-01 );

or

dt << Select Where( date > "2020-01-01" );

Nothing ever gets selected.  What am I doing wrong?
