X command gives you a host prompt. So it's no difference from outside SAS. To how to use the X command (or rather statement? ) see SAS online doc. For sftp see other resources.

SFTP is also supported within the FILENAME statement.  It might require a little bit of setup depending on your OS, so read the doc carefully.
