Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but couldn't find another that fit better...so here goes...

Can anyone tell me happen to know the purpose of the files stored in this SAS directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SAS\9.1\SAS Temporary Files

I’ve noticed it keeps copies of a lot of my large datasets. Is there a proper way of clearing these files? I’m running into disk space issues because of them.

SAS stores the work.datasets in the SAS Temporary Files folder. When SAS exits those files should disappear automatically. Sometimes if SAS close unexpectedly in the contents of the SAS Temporary Files are not automatically remove. You can use windows explorer to check the timestamp of the subfolders in the ..\SAS Temporary Files\ directory and delete the ones you don't need.

To save space, try using the compress=yes/binary option.
