I have made great progress connecting a local repo on Linux to my GitLab remote repository.  I successfully pushed directly to main branch.  Afterwards, I wanted to create a branch and push the branch (best practice).  However, I have run into a situation that is confusing me.

I created and checked out a branch:

data _null_;
rc= git_branch_chkout(
"/opt/sas/SAS_env/users/dakruse/gitcode/denise-first-project",
"DeesBranch");
put rc=;
run;

I confirmed that there was one item that needed to be staged and I staged it.

NOTE: Entry: onedrive_macros.sas. Staged: True. Status: New.

I committed that change:

30 data _null_;
31 rc= git_commit(
32 "/opt/sas/SAS_env/users/dakruse/gitcode/denise-first-project",
33 "DeesBranch",
34 "Denise Kruse",
35 "my email was here",
36 "BRANCH commit from SAS code.");
37 run;

NOTE: DATA statement used (Total process time):
real time 0.00 seconds
cpu time 0.01 seconds

But, when I PUSH, I don't see the module onedrive_macros.sas there.  It DID push my new branch to GitLab.

data _null_;
rc= git_push(
"/opt/sas/SAS_env/users/dakruse/gitcode/denise-first-project",
"this was my ID",
"this was my PAT");
run;

I know in GitBash, just being in the branch when the push is executed makes the module push.  I don't understand why I'm not seeing this module in GitLab.

Any ideas from experience?

Thank you!

Denise
