SAS Community,
How would you open a .sas file in another program like notepad or Microsoft word? Is it possible to do this on a apple computer? I can't seem to open it.
I believe Notepad++ is Windows only - on a Mac you can use the built-in TextEdit program or any other text editor
Just use File-Open, as always. .sas files are pure text, any text editing tool can handle them. What is your problem?
Advice on using notepad++ for SAS programs can be found here: https://communities.sas.com/t5/Administration-and-Deployment/How-to-setup-notepad-as-SAS-text-editor...
The shortcut on the desktop appears as a white piece of paper. I dont have any SAS programs on my computer.
If you neither have EG or Base SAS installed on your computer, use the standard way to associate a type of files with a program.
The link I gave you in the previous post describes this.

I reviewed the document that you sent Kurt - does this apply to mac/apple computers as well? Looks like it only applies to windows
