Hi All,
In SAS 9.2 BI Server system with dedicated Object Server for EMiner user request in separate machine.
The SAS BI server in one location and users are trying to connect SAS Server to build/execute EM Projects. But user are not able to connect to SAS metadata server remotely.
Users installed SAS EM 6.2 Think client on their PC and trying to connect.
Could I request someone to help what would be issue in connection to SAS Server?
Thanks,
Ram.
Where is the AP/RMI/Midtier. Eminer is not connecting to metadata directly but is using the webmidtier and goes from there to the BI server.
Hi Jaap,
The End Users are installed just E Miner Think client at their PC.
The AP is available in remotely along with E Miner server.
Hi Jaap,
let me put here the complete server config details.
we have one SAS BI Server for SAS MEta/SASApp servers.
and we have SAS EM server for Analytics Miner and Objectspawner seperatly for Eminer projects.
now users are trying to connect to this EM/SAS BI server remotly. they have got installed just EM 6.2 Thik client on their working PC's.
thanks,
Ravi
Ravi,
SAS Em is using SAS BI/Server and SASMetda using SASApp servers it is just something on top of that,
- Check EGuide is working wiht the same user as intended to be used EM. (on the EM BI/DI oner!)
When Eguide will not work youre BI/DI srrvice has failed. (focus on that)
Viewing the Em requirements you could see all products of BI/Di server are there,
Em thin client is a java cleint.
It will connect by RMII MIidtierr where you need the webcontainer JBOSS/Websphere/BEa (being replace VMfabric with 9.4).
These processes are acturally updating the metadata using the unrestricted admin.
- check with SMC (em plugin needed) whtere the EM applicatiea is added.
(when not youre midtiier installatton has failed). focus on that)
- Check the denpendicies in the startup-scritps.
The midtier should be started after the metadata-server. Resstaritng the metdataserver can possible lead to not functioning midtier. This part is difficult to check well.
- Check the paramters to connect to the server (rmi or ws not the metadata server) are correct.
Java message on this part are like core-dumps only understandable by insiders. The naming of related applets could possible help.
The java client (EM) and the midtier (also java) and the compute-server (the proc/data processing) sometiimes are needing well planned and working fix-release update,
Check the fix level on all sides, try to confirm you are having a working one before changing..
The Java versions and bitness is a very confusing one. Carefully check those as there are many involved (clent, midtier, compute)..
Hi Jaap,
thank you for your reply..
yes, the same user is able to connect to SAS Metadata server using SAS EG execute the SAS Code.
But when he tried to connect using SAS EM, its not conncting to SAS Servers.
I always used to start the SAS EM server services(SAS AnalyticsPlatform and ObjectSpawner) after Metadata services, while stoping in follows reverse order.
Does users PC required to be opened specific ports to connect to SAS Server/ AnalyticsPlatform other than 8561? 8561 port is already opened as they could connect to metadata server using EG.
thank you
Ravi...
Yes, You are connecting from Eminer client using other port(s) ... Not sure wich ones, changing with the releases
.
Hi Jaap,
we have SAS 9.2 vesrion and EM 6.2.
What are the ports to be open in User Laptop to connect SAS Servers remotely.
Thanks,
Ravi
This old miner release is still using the "analytics platform", see:
emin 6.2: https://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/emag/64806/PDF/default/emag.pdf
and AP 1.3: http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/miner/admin13.pdf
you will find port 5099(rmi) / 6099 AP but I rmember an other default port at the Miner client something like 8099
As all port can be configured at the server / deployment check what haas been done.
With 7.x versions, AP is replaced by the midtier/WIK still RMI etc. Same kind of challenges dfferent namings.
Cuurent version is 13.1 . Time to upgrade?
