I have one dataset that is having 100 records in that variable names are empname empsalary now i want to eliminate last 2 characters of name variable value from every record? Can any one give clear example for the same?

This sounds like homework. So I will not give you the solution directly.

Read the SAS documentation -- available online -- for DATA and SET statements, and for LENGTH and SUBSTR functions.
