Rename groups using canonical tables

I am trying to rename Group Name in idgrps table ( Canonical table) by providing new name and same keyid and other details but when I update metadata it is updating display name instead of name. I want to update external entity with new name as well. Can anybody help me with this.

You need to provide far more detail. Are you coding or using a GUI?

Show what you are doing, what the starting point is and what the desired result would be.
