Hello SAS members,

I was recently hired by a company (hospital) that manages different clinics. The company used Excel to do all of its analysis but wanted to switch to SAS. I was hired coz I have a SAS Base Certification. However, I do no come from a technical background. Now coming to SAS software, I am overwhelmed with the variations in SAS editions. whats the basic software called where we do simple analysis and data visualizations? I have checked SAS Viya and though I could not understand the UI (I have experience with on SAS Studio), I belive SAS Viya is just too way beyond the company's need. Hence, I am here looking for recommendations on how I should be proceeding.

Thanks,

Muthalib

I'm assuming that you have a SAS account manager. Where I live, SAS offer a free requirements assessment service which you can arrange with your SAS account manager. I suggest you ask about this. You will need to define your business needs, what type of analyses you require, how much data is involved and how you access it.

Without doing your business requirements assessment there is no way you can decide what SAS software is necessary and how it should be architected. SAS can scale from just a single PC installation all the way up to a multiple server installation that can have hundreds of users. The assessment will enable you to decide what SAS solution(s) will meet your needs. You should also engage with the IT people in your organisation who are familiar with software procurement to help with this.
